With some others, there is at least a tiny bit of nuance. With Dillon Taylor (white kid in Utah) who was intoxicated and depressed… he at least had his hands around his waistband and called the cop a “fool”. Of course, none of that warrants murdering him… but at least there is a little nuance. In some others like Castile/etc, we can at least see where an officer made a horrendous decision but it played out in seconds. Wrongly, of course, but it was quick. Shaver’s case is the only one I can think of where we see a very slow-burn where we know the person is going to die. Police families are incredibly close, it’s on the same level as reporting a member of your own family to them at times. Officers who are complicit aren’t always doing so by choice, many are coerced by the fact that they’ll be ostracized for life even if they go to a new department, it’s no justification of course but they’re in a tough spot.You’re right.
